Looking for someone comfortable in posting in wordpress and great at spotting the typos for a new role with New England Times and North Coast Times.
What you’ll be doing
This is a low level editorial/admin role that incorporates reviewing, proofing and publishing opinion pieces and comments, events notices, public notices, classifieds, sports results and so on, as well as newsletter emails. You’ll also be involved in maintaining relationships with regular contributors and identifying and recruiting new regulars, and keeping an eye out for other things that should be on the sites. There’s a bit of administration, such as keeping email inboxes attended to and keeping records.
About you
This is a junior but not-quite-entry-level role, where we are looking for technical skill and someone who isn’t bored by the process element. There is a bit of editorial judgement required of what is appropriate and what’s not, what needs to be flagged for a potential news story, and there is a little bit of writing in polishing up the submissions for those that struggle a bit. Might suit someone at the end of their career looking for something easy or perhaps someone looking for flexible work around the farm/kids. While it is remote, we are looking for someone who lives in the New England or North Coast regions with local knowledge.
Tools we use
Google Suite (Particularly gmail, drive, docs, sheets and meet), WordPress, ClickUp, Slack, and Canva/Adobe Express are our core tools. Our directory is built on Listeo/Elementor, and if you have experience using the ad system Broadstreet that is also helpful but not required.
Hours and pay
As a new role there’s still a few things to sort out and pay is negotiable, but we are envisioning about 20 hours a week (flexible), and are open to either on staff or sub-contractor arrangements. Work 100% remotely.
