Life Changes Tamworth is a counselling business focusing solely on providing support for locals experiencing perinatal mental health and parenting challenges. I specialise in providing mental health support for perinatal anxiety and depression during pregnancy and after birth, birth trauma, miscarriage, stillbirth, fertility difficulties, parenting and relationship challenges associated with becoming a parent and support during the various transitions of parenthood.

Hi, I’m Kerryn Smith born and raised in Tamworth. I am an Accredited Social Worker with an absolute passion for everything perinatal. Since completing my Bachelor of Social Work at University of New England in 2018, I have been working towards establishing a caring, supportive and safe space for the community of Tamworth, focusing in the perinatal space.

My lived experience of becoming a parent has been a huge contributing factor to my passion and dedication in the perinatal space. I am especially passionate about supporting new parents in their adjustment of their expectations and re-negotiating their identities, through the challenges (and changes) of conception, pregnancy, postnatal periods, parental and relationship adjustments.

I have real, lived experience, which can provide a more comforting, empathetic experience in a safe, comfortable environment without judgement. I acknowledge the family as a unit and the importance of including partners throughout therapy where appropriate.

I am local and my primary goal is to give back to my community by providing an important service.

I have extensive specialised training in perinatal mental health, grief and loss, and use evidence based therapies – (EMDR is one therapy that helps to process birth trauma memories).

Life Changes is the only provider of parenting classes to prepare parents for the realities of parenthood. It is easy to make an appointment with no current waitlist.
